Guided tour
Art déco in Paris

Le Studio Building

Born in France in the 1910s as a reaction to the overly sinuous forms of Art Nouveau, Art Deco achieved a true triumph at the international Exhibition of modern decorative and industrial arts held in Paris in 1925. Standing for a breakthrough in a renewed classicism that emphasized simple geometry, it established itself as a popular style and captivated audiences with decorative character (columns, railings, mosaics, bas-reliefs, ceramic coating, etc.) and appealing façades (bow windows, balconies, tired levels). In Paris, Art Deco particularly appealed to a bourgeois clientele and experienced a remarkable success in the 16th arrondissement. Our architectural tour will make you discover a dozen residential buildings and private mansions emblematic of this attractive style, designed by renowned architects such as Henri Sauvage, Germain Dorel, Charles Blanche, Charles Plumet and Pierre Patout, or designed by more confidential but talented architects.
